“Killing our dream life would mean killing ourselves, mutilating our souls. Dreaming is the only thing we have, and it belongs only to us; vulnerable and unalterably ours. As we know, surrealism is based on the idea of a higher degree of reality connected to certain associations previously overlooked, on the impotence of the dream, and on the disinterested play of thought. It tends to definitively dismiss all other psychic mechanisms and replace them in solving the main problems of life.
Dreams can be analyzed through some essential points of Freudian theories, as a form of thought that primarily
expresses itself through images, sounds, and bodily sensations, which allow us to access repressed unconscious
content, although in cryptic forms.
With this analysis, I have concluded that the intention to represent, to bring to life something that, although so far
removed from reality—something that concerns only and exclusively the individual—can, through images, tell a
collective imagination, capable of making even those who, unfortunately, can’t seem to detach themselves from reality
for that brief moment, “daydream” with open eyes.
Inspiration thus arises from a set of cross-disciplinary analyses: from art to music, from theatre to literature. A perfect
blend to bring something magical to light, and why not, surreal, but with just the right dose of reality.”
