DÜSK presents STORM KIDS

DÜSK Storm Kids Collection: Embracing the Rock’n’Roll Atmosphere of the ’80s and ’90s! As the fashion industry continues to evolve, progressive and high-streetwear brand DÜSK from Budapest emerges with their latest collection, ‘Storm Kids.’ After a two-year hiatus, this highly anticipated release transports us back to the rock’n’roll era of the ’80s and ’90s, capturing the rebellious spirit and edgy aesthetic that defined the time.

The design process behind the collection was heavily influenced by the quarantine period of 2020, where defence and resilience became paramount. Drawing inspiration from various eras, the pieces echo the iconic pilot suits and aviator jackets, infusing functionality with captivating detailing.

One cannot overlook the renowned abstract patterns that have become synonymous with DÜSK. In this collection, these captivating designs take centre stage once again. Psychedelic tartan patterns intertwine with the symbol of remembrance from the First World War, the silhouette of the poppy, manifested in vibrant colour combinations. The result? Plaid fabrics are distorted and manipulated into breathtaking impressions that challenge conventional expectations.

Drawing inspiration from the grunge subculture and the underground scenes of the ’90s, the creative and design process was further influenced by literary works and films such as DUNE, Station Eleven, and the beloved story of Miyazaki, Laputa: Castle in the Sky. The dystopian atmosphere reflected in the shapes and surreal patterns of each garment creates a captivating narrative that resonates with the contemporary fashion scene.

Sustainable Circularity

Dedicated to sustainability, DÜSK incorporates dead stock materials and supplies from various film productions and contemporary Hungarian fashion brands. In line with the ethos of emerging fashion brands, DÜSK strives to keep valuable resources in circulation, championing a responsible approach to design.

Visual Representation

The editorial showcasing the ‘Storm Kids’ collection is a visual manifestation of rediscovering one’s inner self after the world’s end. The captivating images, captured by the talented Wanda Martin, European ambassador for Canon, seamlessly oscillate between playfulness and melancholia. With an impressive portfolio that includes renowned brands such as Atlantic Records, SONY Music, Marc Jacobs, Dior, Burberry, Diesel, Louis Vuitton, Saint Laurent, and Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY, Wanda Martin brings her expertise to breathe life into the collection.

About the Designer

Since its inception in 2016, DÜSK has been the brainchild of designer Dóra Hegedűs, who consciously shapes the Budapest-based brand’s creative vision. Their primary focus lies in male and unisex design, empowering individuals to embrace self-expression through fashion.

Dóra Hegedűs completed her master’s degree in Fashion and Textile Design in 2019 at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design. Her quest for knowledge and innovation led her to study at the Menswear Design & Technology Department of the prestigious London College of Fashion through an Erasmus scholarship. With a passion for pushing boundaries, Dóra Hegedűs and DÜSK represented Hungary at the International Young Designers Contest in Kyiv in 2020. Their collaboration with internationally acclaimed dance choreographer Edit Domoszlai for the 59th Venice Biennale, Biennale College Danza further solidified their artistic prowess in 2022.

Remarkably, Dóra Hegedűs’s design portfolio extends beyond the realms of fashion, encompassing costume design in international film productions such as Yorgos Lanthimos’s ‘Poor Things’ and Netflix’s ‘The Last Kingdom.’ Since 2019, she has committed exclusively to her work, redefining the brand’s design and identity. Today, she unveils a dystopian, genderless, and high-end streetwear line under the name DÜSK, capturing the urban vibes, rebel characters, and gender-inclusive design from the heart of Eastern Europe.

Welcome to the world of DÜSK Budapest, where everyday rockstars find their first choice.
