About Arrhythmia
At its core, Arrhythmia reflects a profound engagement with Henri Lefebvre’s concept of Rhythmanalysis. The event delves into the interaction between environmental and socio-political rhythms, showcasing an exhibition crafted by Niki Danai and Niki Maria Lore alongside experimental sound performances curated by plusplusplus.
Lefebvre’s groundbreaking work underscores the omnipresence of rhythms in everyday life—from our biological beats to the societal rhythms shaping our interactions. He posits that understanding these rhythms is essential to comprehending the dynamics of power, control, and human experience.
Central to Lefebvre’s philosophy is the conflict between natural, biological rhythms and the mechanised rhythms imposed by contemporary capitalism. He introduces the notion of arrhythmia—a state where the harmony of natural rhythms is disrupted, mirroring the irregular heartbeat that can lead to physical distress. This concept extends beyond the medical realm, emerging as a socio-political condition where the accelerating pace of capitalist systems clashes violently with the more languid cycles of human existence.
Arrhythmia seeks to highlight these clashing rhythms, offering a space for reflection and engagement with the complex rhythms of our lives. Join us for this immersive experience that promises not only to entertain but also to provoke thought and inspire dialogue about the rhythms that shape our society.
Don’t miss the chance to witness this unique fusion of art and performance, and become part of the exploration of rhythm and its discontents. Discover how creative expressions can illuminate the essential connections between our natural selves and the world around us.
