Berlin, save the date! “Urgency” emerges as a groundbreaking multi-disciplinary dance work that plunges audiences into the intertwined realms of personal experience and broader socio-political issues. Set against the dynamic backdrop of Haus Der Visionäre, this immersive piece invites onlookers to not merely observe but actively engage with the unfolding choreography that transcends traditional stage boundaries.
Drawing from the visceral experiences of borders and conflicts, “Urgency” embodies the tensions that shape our identities through belonging and exclusion. The choreography, a bold blend of contemporary dance, performative art, and classical ballet, uniquely employs pointe work in ways that defy convention. Here, the performance space transforms into a living tapestry of movement, where the dancers’ physical language speaks of discomfort, discipline, and the instability of existence.

Venue: Haus Der Visionäre
Address: Eichenstraße 4A, 12435 Berlin
Dates: April 2 & 3, 2026, with performances at 19:15 & 21:30
Duration: 1h10
Created by a collective of queer artists influenced by their own narratives rooted in conflict, particularly within the Mexican American border, this piece unearths the unseen imprints that societal and power structures leave on our bodies. “Urgency” manifests as an exploration of how these forces shape our relationships, movements, and very essence of being.
Unlike traditional performances constrained by a singular focus, this innovative work unfolds throughout the entire environment, activating every corner of the venue. The audience is immersed within the experience, integrated into the choreography as dancers traverse the space in real time. This intimate approach reinforces the idea that borders and socio-political systems are not just abstract concepts but tangible realities that shape our lives.

The interplay of live dance, motion tracking, and cutting-edge projection technology creates a 360-degree sensory experience, all delivered through the state-of-the-art d&b audiotechnik spatial sound system, enveloping the audience in a rich, politically charged soundscape. Real-time mapping by Antidote.psd translates the dancers’ movements into projected visuals, making visceral emotions and internal struggles visible. These projections meld seamlessly with the choreography, illustrating the patterns of control and release that define our daily interactions with the systems around us.
In “Urgency,” audiences will perceive the body as both a human presence and a canvas of visual data, highlighting the complex relationship between our lived experiences and the frameworks that seek to define or monitor them. Join them at Haus Der Visionäre for this transformative exploration into the essence of existence, where art becomes a medium for reflection and engagement with the urgent realities that shape our world.
