“My name is Alessandra Lomaistro, I am a stylist, and my idea for this project is to narrate masculinity differently. It is often associated with societal stereotypes that define what should or should not be considered “masculine,” incorporating aspects such as physical strength, emotional control, and many other traits traditionally associated with the concept of manliness.
Mocking these stereotypes can be a fun way to explore the variety of human experiences and diminish rigid gender concepts. The goal is to satirize societal expectations, explaining that masculinity, like femininity, is a social construct that needs to be challenged and redefined. Men can be strong and vulnerable, assertive and compassionate, regardless of how they dress or behave. I want to promote awareness of the diversity within masculinity, contributing to overcoming limiting stereotypes and creating a more inclusive environment where men can express themselves without being bound by obsolete “norms.”
