Linda Gardens is a New York-based singer, songwriter, and producer whose distinct electronic sound is marked by a psychedelic undercurrent. Her music is transgressive yet comforting, offering an ethereal and experimental experience that bridges the familiar and the foreign, the experimental and the accessible – a perfect reflection of her latest project, “Fate Delay.”
“‘Fate Delay’ is the manifestation of a dream, despite the truth of circumstances,” says Linda. “It is an expression of reality, existential observations, and where I find my place within it all. It is a comment on our collective awareness within society, our own lives, and how we choose to react to this consciousness.”
Linda’s music sits comfortably between the danceable and the enthralling – two qualities that often overlap, but are difficult to balance. Yet, for her, it’s a tool in her arsenal. Her music is often described as “haunting,” but this quality never detracts from the groove or the catchy qualities she cultivates.
With “Fate Delay,” Linda sets out to do something truly unique. She brings a diverse range of vibes to the table, from the club-ready bass thumps to the muted, lo-fi presentation that flirts with goth and post-punk sensibilities, all underscored by her terse, dreamy pop vocals. Tracks like “Identity” even showcase a sultry rock swagger that showcases the sheer versatility and dominance of her vocal prowess.
The album is, by design, thought-provoking and even contentious, centered around puzzling the listener with questions that lead up to a central inquiry: “What does it mean to allow or control one’s own fate?” While the album seems philosophically preoccupied with tingling your brain for clues and insights into your consciousness, it is no less groovy and catchy, no less interesting to the senses – a testament to Linda’s greatness as a composer and artist.
