Baili Wise is a self-taught, black, female artist whose work reflects her appreciation of black beauty and expression. Her pieces challenge Westernized standards of beauty, ethics, and governing. With a background in Human Services, Advocacy, and Africana Studies, her art examines related themes.
“I am an Atlanta, Georgia based sculptor who designs and crafts clay art pieces by hand. My work reflects an appreciation for all approaches to sculpting while addressing the importance of increased black representation in art forms, including sculpting. Through working with natural clay, I feel I can connect with my ancestors as well as those who have never seen themselves represented in this way.”
