Introducing Solene Ballesta and Lin Zhengqi, a duo of visual artists from France and China. This KALTBLUT exclusive photography narrative is an intimate portrait series set against the backdrop of Lin’s hometown, in Hebei, China.
In these photographs, Solene captures Lin amidst the haunting ruins of the Great Wall, an ethereal landscape far removed from the typical tourist postcards. Amidst this enigmatic authenticity, we traverse through stone fragments, fissures, and mist, forging a connection with a past that has been consigned to oblivion and dismantling. The only splash of color comes from the red, symbolizing the energy and hope of China’s young generation breathing new life into a historic yet chaotic legacy.
