If Alien Earth, Marvel’s Eternals, and Jupiter Ascending had an intergalactic lovechild, and dressed it in demii-couture, you’d get Hengdi Wang’s SS26 collection, EXOGENESIS. What we at KALTBLUT. are calling a cyberpunk prophecy from a haute couture galaxy far, far away.
A runway show like no other, inspired by the concept of the exogenous origin of life, aka a theory rooted in the idea that life may have drifted here from elsewhere in the cosmos, SS26 was part man, part machine, part nature, part AI. A haunting cosmic production with otherworldly models strutting out like alien royalty, battle-ready priestesses, and interstellar knights from a world far beyond ours.
One look was basically Queen Amidala meets Hellraiser, dripping in blood-red drapery and sculpted armour. Another shimmered like an RPG boss level-up, an entire bodysuit encrusted in crystals that caught the light like a collapsing star. White gowns and armour read like sci-fi temple guardians, half-samurai, half-stormtrooper. And then came the galactic warrior empress in sculpted exoskeleton armour that could have stepped straight off the set of Dune 2.
Wang reimagines the Shan Hai Jing not as folklore but as extraterrestrial memory, ancient beasts rewritten as cosmic archetypes, oracle bone script glitched into new alphabets, and star maps turned into textiles. Clothes became codes. Drapery became data. Embroidery became circuitry.
3D-printed bones twisted into sacred spirals, fabrics glowed with bio-luminescent threads, and the silhouettes flickered between fragile and invincible. One minute you’re looking at couture, the next you’re staring at an artefact from a civilisation that doesn’t exist yet.
Hengdi Wang isn’t just giving us clothes, he’s giving us lore. These aren’t “pieces,” they’re power-ups, relics, and cosmic armour upgrades.
EXOGENESIS proves one thing: the future of fashion isn’t minimal beige basics, sorry not sorry Skims, it’s myth, memory, and mech suits. Wang isn’t showing fashion. He’s asking what we’ll remember when the earth forgets us.
