Ole Wei-Yang Ripper is a photographer based in Frankfurt and Taipei, currently studying Communication Design at the Faculty of Design in Darmstadt with a major in photography.
Wei-Yang is part of the Frankfurt art collective “10th.“ This joint comprises individuals with diverse migration backgrounds and talents ranging from music, and photography/videography, to fashion design.
Many members have their roots in the Southeast Asian region. The location on the 10th floor in Frankfurt Bockenheim serves as a space for exchange and collaborative work. The “Herrenmode“ project represents the collective‘s most recent collaborative endeavour, and explores men‘s fashion (Herrenmode) as a means of personal expression, viewing clothing as armour and a tool to challenge traditional masculine norms. By portraying clothing designed for men on androgynous
or feminine figures, Wei-Yang questions societal expectations and gender stereotypes, highlighting their impact on shopping behaviour and notions of masculinity. The collective plans to present their first exhibition in Frankfurt in October/November.
