“I’m Yasemin Akgül. Born and raised in Ankara, Turkey, I have been living in Berlin for over ten years and regularly travel between Turkey and Germany. This journey is more than just a physical path; it forms the foundation of my creative identity. Fashion and design were passed down to me by my mother, a passionate tailoring teacher. Her art and dedication have inspired me from a young age and continue to shape my work today. I am currently studying fashion design at Atelier Chardon Savard in Berlin and expect to complete my Bachelor’s degree in March 2025. Besides my work as a fashion designer, I am also a trained tailor, make-up artist, hair artist, and photographer.”
“Human: A Fashion Collection Against Social Injustice”
“Human” is more than just a fashion collection to me; it is a heartfelt endeavour. This collection combines baroque elegance with the challenges of our contemporary world and makes a strong statement against social injustice. It addresses the Kafala system and the fast-fashion industry, which plunge millions of people into poverty and exploitation. With clear lines, bold colours, and luxurious materials, “Human” gives voice to these important issues.
The collection symbolizes the transition from poverty to wealth and the growing social divide. Each piece, from the simple beginnings to the opulent designs, tells a story. The magnificent cuts and embellishments, inspired by the Baroque era, have been reinterpreted to highlight the inequalities of our time. High-quality materials such as linen, chiffon, satin, velvet, faux leather, and lace have been used, combined with elaborate fabric manipulations, pearls, crystals, and metal gold ornaments. Each detail is a metaphor for the social and economic struggles many people face daily.
On July 3rd, these designs were showcased by an aspiring designer at Berlin Fashion Week and Neo.Fashion. An important moment in my creative journey.”

“This collection is more than just a fashion statement to me. It is the result of dedication, passion, and the unwavering support of my dear mentor, Prof. Karolin Violante. Since I began studying fashion design at Atelier Chardon Savard University, she has been a constant source of inspiration. Her strength, unwavering belief in my vision, and continuous encouragement paved the way for this collection. Without her support, this collection would not have been possible. She has shown me that even the greatest challenges can be overcome with people who believe in you. For everything, I am eternally grateful.
I also want to extend a special thanks to everyone who made significant contributions throughout this process. Our talented photographer, Tristan Rus, played a crucial role in capturing the visual essence of the collection with his exceptional work. Lead Make-Up & Hair Artist Selin Yildirim managed both hair and make-up, delivering perfection. Make-up artist Lora Weller enhanced the project with her flawless make-up designs. Stylist & Hair Artist Manal Basala made significant contributions with her creative details and styling of the models’ hair.
