“I Had Been Here Before” explores the impact of memory and the passage of time on the transformation and deconstruction of spaces and moments. Dreamlike places are recognised through echoes and sensations. Through an exploration of family archives, memories emerge like a wedding cake or sea foam, out of softly gathered fabric or a dark mist on a tailored garment. Childhood and adulthood converge in pieces that might evoke the image of a child wearing the clothes, or even the body of a “grown person,” and vice versa. Like a dream in which the past weaves into the future, creating a haze, suspended in space and time; an oneiric world where everything is blurry, confusing, and beautiful.
