A model’s first touch with the industry is like a negotation.
How much is he supposed to expose? What is too forced? What is too real?
Everyone says “just be yourself”, but they have already decided what that means.
He learns fast where to look, how to hold his stomach, and how to stop blinking because he looks scared doing so.
The light feels like a test. The clothes are borrowed confidence.
Someone says, “Beautiful. Hold that.” And he does, even when he doesn’t know what “that” is.
Until it becomes this weird game: how close can you get to showing yourself without actually showing anything? “Is this what you wanted to see?” becomes both question and answer.
