“I am Omar Bouazzaoui Zergoug, a young Arab who is getting into fashion styling, and I always try that each project I undertake carries a personal message. I grew up in a neighbourhood rich in cultural diversity and marked by conflict, which has instilled in me the need to give a voice to those who are unheard, to those thoughts we all have but keep hidden inside.
Every person is unique and has a great story to tell, and this editorial is a clear example of something I’ve been reflecting on for some time. It’s an experience we’ve all gone through in one way or another. In the end, we are not so different from each other; there’s always something that connects us, and in this case, it’s love.
For all these reasons, I invite you to join me on this personal journey through this editorial and in future projects to come.”
Limerence is the involuntary mental state that arises from a romantic attraction to someone, accompanied by an obsessive need to be loved in return.
“It’s the obsession with being loved.”
This fashion editorial explores the natural human desire for reciprocated love, and how, when that love is not returned, it often leads to obsession. The protagonist, K19 (Karina), is an alien who arrives on Earth with a mission: to discover a human weakness that will enable her to conquer the planet.
After observing and analyzing humans, she uncovers a vital source of energy that drives them, but if taken away, it weakens them—and that weakness is love.
Upon learning what love is, Karina becomes fascinated and decides she must experience it for herself. Her obsession becomes so intense that she is determined to feel it, regardless of whether or not it is reciprocated.
In the end, after an internal struggle, she comes to understand that true love, and the key to being loved in return lies in self-love.
