LP F/W25 FINCA: A Journey Through Identity and Craftsmanship

LP‘s latest collection, Finca, unfurls as an exquisite tapestry of identity, heritage, and the art of craftsmanship. Drawing from the designer’s own deeply personal reflections, Finca pays homage to the traditional Spanish country house that shaped their formative years—an intimate space teeming with nature and surrounded by horses, sheep, and donkeys. This foundational connection birthed a collection that resonates with themes of resilience and discipline.

In a striking nod to the duality inherent in being a Gemini, the collection encapsulates the intriguing tension of self-discovery and transformation. The designer’s eclectic journey—from the stables of equestrianism to the realms of hospitality, and finally into fashion—is a narrative rendered into fabric. With roots anchored in a life brimming with robust, utilitarian garments, they have gracefully evolved, embracing a looser, more sensual silhouette influenced by their formative years in Berlin.

Finca is more than a collection; it is a personal dialogue expressed vividly through the language of colour and texture. The palette stems from five selected paintings, merging the freedom and fluidity of art with the precision of fashion design. The choice of materials further echoes this duality—vegetable-tanned leather, reminiscent of a horse’s sleekly clipped fur, rewards the touch with richness and depth, evolving with a patina as organic as the landscapes of their childhood.

Not content to let the past inform only the fabric, the designer’s innovation shines through the transformation of heavy wool horse blankets into sculptural garments—pieces that reimagine the functional into the abstract. Silhouettes, inspired by Hede Bühl’s evocative sculptures, play with structure and movement, allowing for an organic fit that feels both intentional and fluid.

The footwear is a standout highlight; envision heeled rubber boots reimagined for the stables, showcasing an exaggerated platform coupled with a rubber grip sole, beckoning a sense of glamour to the equestrian world.

Collaboration flows throughout Finca, spotlighted by intricate tailoring from Welsh craftsman John Llewelyn and thought-provoking art by London’s Şeniz Jones. Their partnership births the ‘M’ T-shirt, a fundraiser with proceeds supporting the Brain Tumor Research Foundation in London, in a poignant tribute to the designer’s brother, who faced a brain tumour diagnosis in 2023.

Finca is presented with a deliberate, subdued grace, a reflection of the recent loss of the designer’s maternal grandparents—a choice that embraces personal mourning, allowing the collection to resonate on a deeper, more contemplative level. In the absence of the traditional high-energy spectacle, this exhibition invites viewers to engage with the artistry and stories woven within each piece.

Ultimately, Finca is not just fashion; it is a narrative—a reflection of the rich tapestry of memory, modern craft, and heritage. As we eagerly anticipate its impact, we at KALTBLUT Magazine find ourselves enchanted by its depth, its storytelling, and the powerful resonance it carries through time. This collection is bound to speak profoundly to those who see beyond superficiality, celebrating the rich stories we all hold within our creative endeavours.
