The creation of “It’s Over” was not a solitary endeavour; it saw Magic Island reuniting with an old friend and an incredibly talented multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer, Jakob Lebsanft. A graduate of pop music from Folkwang University of the Arts, Jakob also releases music solo under Lebsanft and Boddy, bringing a rich and textured soundscape to the EP.
Drawing influence from the late nineties to early 2000s pop/rock era, Magic Island and Jakob Lebsanft have dipped into a nostalgic palette to paint their contemporary sounds. Echoes of Madonna’s “Ray of Light” and William Orbit, alongside Nelly Furtado and The Verve, resonate throughout the EP, blending the old with the new in seamless harmony.
