This year’s festival spans various iconic venues across Maastricht, transforming the city into a vibrant hub of fashion, performance, and multidisciplinary art. From immersive exhibitions to captivating performances, visitors can expect an inspiring roster of activities that challenge the norms of contemporary fashion culture. Highlights include The Clash House, where innovative fashion performances will take centre stage, and the New Fashion Narratives exhibition at Bureau Europa, curated by talents like Jonas Zitter and Rafael Kouto, exploring fashion as a medium for connection and collective resistance.
Among the trailblazing participants are designers Arva Bustin, Rakee Chen, POViS, and the dynamic duo Maxence Guenin & Thibault Villard. Their performances will intertwine pressing themes such as climate, identity, and activism, demonstrating that fashion is not just an aesthetic choice but a platform for social commentary. Attendees can also look forward to the Fashion Film Program, featuring the much-anticipated premiere of “The Sneeze,” a co-creation film that highlights visions from emerging filmmakers and youth alike.
The motif of this year’s campaign, crafted by the visionary Ülkühan, delves into the complexities of identity and authorship in our digital age. His series of AI-generated portraits—each embodying archetypes such as The Poet, The Performer, and The Designer—challenges the traditional fashion narrative, inviting us to ponder: Who holds the pen in the story of fashion?
FASHIONCLASH is not simply an event; it’s a movement that nurtures interdisciplinary exchanges, proving that fashion can function as both art and a catalyst for social change. With a dedication to talent development and active public engagement, this year promises an inclusively curated experience that resonates with a diverse audience through a mix of free and ticketed events.
So gear up, fashion aficionados! Join us as we celebrate creativity, innovation, and the unyielding spirit of our beloved FASHIONCLASH Festival this November. Don’t miss out on the chance to engage with the future of fashion at its finest, in the heart of Maastricht.
