To celebrate the release of “Raf,” a collaboration with Turkish-Italian artist Carlita on fabric Records, Toronto’s DJ and producer Andre Zimmer features in our weekly mixtape series. “Raf” is a high-energy blend of classic house and rave elements, designed for the dancefloor. The track combines infectious soulful vocals with punchy synths and rolling breakbeats, grounded by a deep tech-house bassline.
On the mixtape Andre shares, “The selections range from upbeat, energetic stompers – to more fleshed out, lengthy, tracky records that have a lot of repetition and get you lost in the groove. I’ve included some of my favourite tracks at the moment on vinyl and some ripped to digital, as well as a few unreleased pieces from myself and friends. Hope you enjoy the mix <3”
Andre Zimmer has made a name in the dance music scene, recognized for his genre-blending productions and skillful selections on platforms like Rinse FM, HÖR Berlin, and BBC Radio 1. His recent EP with Shall Not Fade nearly sold out its 300 vinyl copies, with major European stores requesting repress.
As Zimmer explains on the new single “Raf”, “I wanted this track to really bring back euro warehouse vibes, with a twist on a very gospel-esque vocal, displaying that big room energy of what a rave track encompasses. The track was made to feel as though it comes from a different era of house music, nodding back at some of the famous institutions to play a specific sound and at parties that last throughout the night, into the next day. Fabric Records was the perfect label for this title since it has been established and recognized for it’s eclectic selectors throughout the years, as well as it’s sound system. I can imagine this song to be played in the Fabric rooms, so it only felt right to put it out on the Fabric imprint.”
With roots in old school house, progressive, trance, and balearic sounds, Zimmer skillfully fuses these influences into modern productions. His upcoming tour includes stops in London, New York, Bali, Toronto, Berlin, Amsterdam, Miami, and beyond.
