Elia Tomé takes centre stage in our latest mixtape series, presenting a sound that effortlessly intertwines expansive minimalism with meticulously crafted thematic evolution. The Greek-Lebanese songwriter and producer conjures an auditory landscape where the organic meets the digital, channelling a sense of nostalgic reverie through his innovative future soundscapes.
In his debut album, Therefore I Am Not, Tomé invites listeners into an exploration of the unconscious, delving into profound themes of loss, separation, and self-discovery. Drawing inspiration from dreams and psychoanalytic insights, the album marks a pivotal departure from the past. Through an artful blend of electronic genres, he transitions from reflection to expression, embarking on an introspective journey that embodies the pursuit of authenticity and the complexities of growing up.
“I wanted this mix to be a collection of songs and artists that inspired me throughout the creation of my debut album, Therefore I Am Not. It was the first time I truly immersed myself in electronic music, and I found myself identifying with the work of many artists. Their ability to blend genres within an electronic framework fascinated me and opened a door for my own productions. It allowed me to go deeper, explore new sounds, and discover which elements I wanted to make my own. There was something freeing about it. It gave me an outlet to explore my own creativity without limitations, shaping the album into what it is now and a sound that I want to develop further in the future.”
