In an exciting addition to our mixtape series, we welcome Tera Kòrá, the prodigious DJ and producer hailing from Curaçao. On February 7th, he released his debut EP, Ultramar, a title that translates to “overseas” in Latin, aptly representing his exploration of the intricate ties between Caribbean and African musical traditions. Ultramar is not just an EP; it’s a vibrant sonic journey that melds a diverse range of genres, including Afro beats, Caribbean rhythms, reggae, soul, and jazz. Each track showcases an impressive lineup of collaborations with international artists such as Nigeria’s AYLØ, Ghana’s Yung D3mz and Twitch 4EVA, alongside Netherlands-based Yung Dada. With this release, Tera Kòrá skillfully transcends borders, vividly bringing to life the rich musical heritage of both the Caribbean and African regions through sound and partnership.
