In an exploration of the intricate dance between architecture and nature, PHILIPPDORNER presents its S/S26 collection, a breathtaking representation of evolution through human intervention. This collection unfolds as a trilogy, highlighting three dynamic elements engaged in a fascinating dialogue, where time, light, and perception reshape our interactions with the built environment.

As sunlight traverses the day, the constructs we inhabit begin to tell new stories. Light gently caresses surfaces, unveiling unexpected silhouettes that blur the lines between our indoor sanctuaries and the outside world. In this collection, human-made objects aren’t just static; they emerge as vibrant participants, actively generating movement, shadows, and captivating forms.
The silhouettes we encounter here exemplify a beautiful duality, both static and fluid, exuding an alluring mix of strength and softness. The collection deftly balances straight, boxy fits that provide a sculptural foundation with intricate cut-outs and panelling that invite dimension and airiness. Voluminous, symmetric shapes playfully engage with the body’s natural proportions; sometimes they exaggerate, while at other times they reinvent our expectations.
Draped and structured fabrics coexist harmoniously, creating silhouettes that feel both instinctively familiar and steeped in intentional design. Shapes emerge from within other shapes, weaving a rich tapestry of framing and concealment. Furthermore, tailoring techniques traditionally reserved for garments are reimagined for accessories, while trompe-l’œil pinstripe panels echo architectural façades, crafting stunning 3D illusions directly into the fabric.
Reflecting the captivating intersection of our natural surroundings and urban landscapes, the colour palette is a striking mix that grounds the collection. Deep, rich shades of dark navy, forest green, and letterbox red take the lead, invigorated with sharp pops of bright yellow that inject energy and a sense of disruption. This interplay of organic hues complements neutral tones like grey and black, establishing an equilibrium between nature and industry.
Pushing the boundaries of material innovation, the collection flaunts experimental techniques that marry form with function. Delicate lace and knitwear intertwine with latex ribbons, crafting a tension that balances fragility with resilience. Riveted seams, glistening metal chains, and cleverly placed zippers infuse movement, allowing garments to evolve into fresh dimensions. Meanwhile, technical woven fabrics are adorned with scanned prints of architectural materials, embellished with transparent beads to elevate their dimensionality. Scuba stretch fabrics and patchwork surfaces mimic the layered beauty of architectural elements, while double-faced, hand-finished textiles take on forms reminiscent of captivating edifices.
PHILIPP DORNER’s SS26 collection invites us to witness the breathtaking synergy between nature and architecture, encouraging us to redefine our relationships with the spaces we occupy.
