From the opening chords of the title track, Nostalgia, Emily invites us into a personal reflection on longing. The song reflects on how the small moments of childhood—playing outside, listening to your favourite song on the radio, going to camp, or inventing dances—end up being the most valuable and emotional memories we keep as we grow up. It’s a reminder of how the passage of time transforms the ordinary into something deeply meaningful, making even growing up sometimes hurt, not because of what you gain but because of what you leave behind. The song, as the whole EP, is delicate and combines acoustic textures with synthesisers that highlight the nostalgia hidden behind its words.

“After All” is about the pain of watching someone you love emotionally drift away while you’re still there, trying to scream to be heard. It’s a silent plea to not give up, even when everything seems to be falling apart, with strong and profound lyrics. “Not the End” talks about facing difficult moments when everything seems to be spiralling out of control. It describes that feeling of anguish, of not being able to go on, of feeling like you’ve reached your limit. But despite everything, the message is clear: it’s not the end. Even if it’s difficult, even if it hurts, there’s always a way out, a reason to keep going. The song reminds us that change is part of life and that we all experience setbacks, but also opportunities to get up and move on.

“Next Time” pays tribute to her mother with poetry and deep feelings. As she wrote on her Instagram account, “If you’ve ever lost someone and wished you had just one more minute, this one’s for you.”

Nostalgia as an EP is music to accompany processes, to document a story, and to survive, knowing that even if it hurts, everything will be okay. This work positions Emily Haber as a solo artist with an unmistakable voice and a powerful narrative.
