OBS Fall/Winter 2026 – …auf uns ist Verlass!

Last week at Berlin Fashion Week, OBS delivered a show that transcended conventional runway presentations, embodying a powerful narrative of contemporary design with its Fall/Winter 2026 collection, aptly named “…auf uns ist Verlass!” Once again, the brand has demonstrated a mastery of the catwalk, confirming its status as one of the best shows and collections from BFW.

Nestled in the cultural fabric of Augsburg, OBS leans into the province’s rich potential as a catalyst for radical creativity, choosing to reject the relentless pace of urban life for a sanctuary that embraces mindful design. With a poignant nod to the legacy of HfG Ulm, the brand skillfully utilises seclusion as a counterpoint to digital overstimulation. Here, design is not simply an aesthetic; it becomes a visceral experience, forged through a compelling labour process that respects the integrity of materials and celebrates the rhythm of manual craftsmanship.

The Augsburg workspace is a fluid transition of environments, from workshop to office, through the sewing atelier, and eventually into the garden. This ethos was seamlessly transported to Berlin for the AW26 unveiling. The ingenious set design, conceptualised as an independent, circular island, dissolved traditional hierarchy, removing all seating and instilling dynamic movement. Within this segmented circle, guests were immersed in three unique realities: a serene mountain landscape, a functional workshop, and an inviting office/living room, furnished with USM Haller’s iconic modular systems.

The presentation saw models wandering through this rotating landscape, bridging the gaps between distinct environments and allowing the architecture to breathe as a living, evolving entity. OBS’s commitment to redefining the “8-8-8 rule” reshaped the notion of functional uniformity, stripping ornamentation away while beautifully marrying traditional craftsmanship with an industrial aesthetic through collaborations with generational artisans like Hutfabrik Lembert and the Zollner family.

Footwear took centre stage with HOKA’s Bondi 7, a harmonious blend of modern performance and OBS’s design philosophy. The collection features a thoughtful selection of materials: Austrian Walkloden, Japanese cotton twill, hand-painted textiles, and vegetable-tanned leathers, all contributing to products aimed at enhancing quality of life.

A standout addition is the Giebel bag, ingeniously inspired by the silhouette of a gable roof, embracing minimalism in leather. The intentional absence of decorative features elevates the construction itself as the core design element. This Fall/Winter 2026 collection boldly retreats from digital distractions, anchoring itself in the tactile realities of the OBS creative space, inviting observers to engage without barriers.

Founded in 2019 by brothers Johannes and Matthias Schweizer, OBS is redefining material and process through an unwavering commitment to form, function, and quality. With roots steeped in craftsmanship learned on their father’s construction sites, each design reflects a minimalist, essentialist philosophy that champions purpose and unlocks creative potential.

By collaborating exclusively with master artisans and manufacturers, OBS maintains the highest standards throughout production. The brand’s dedication to sustainability shines through its use of surplus materials, reinforcing a commitment to eco-conscious practices and fostering a resilient local production network.
