London-based, UK visual artist and fashion designer Olli Hull unveiled his latest collection, “Somethings old, somethings new”. Seamlessly merging artistry with sustainable fashion, Hull’s distinctive creations challenge conventions, inviting wearers to embark on a journey of self-expression and societal critique. All while looking fucking fabulous.
“Some things old, some things new” marks a significant juncture in Hull’s artistic evolution, bridging the space between past and present. Reflecting on the collection, Hull shares, “This collection unites my older and more recent work, weaving together threads of continuity and innovation. Drawing inspiration from his narrative of gender and identity, Hull breathes new life into discarded garments, transforming them into vibrant expressions of defiance and liberation. Each piece is meticulously hand-painted, bearing witness to Hull’s relentless commitment to authenticity and creativity.
Among the standout features of the collection are the revisited wedding dresses from Hull’s ‘Act Normal’ exhibition in 2021. These ethereal garments, imbued with symbolism and subversion, challenge the antiquated paradigms of love and matrimony. Hull’s reinterpretation of the traditional wedding dress serves as a rallying cry for inclusivity and authenticity in a world marred by conformity.
