Following the success of his debut album Storytelling, Swedish-born, LA-based composer and producer Olovson presents his powerful new track, “UNTANGLE,” from his upcoming album set for release on October 24 through his imprint, 1136 Diamond. The lead single, “THINGS I COULD’VE LEFT BEHIND,” has already garnered support from NPR Music, KCRW, and KEXP 90.3 FM.
Renowned for his emotive piano compositions and Grammy-winning work with artists like Frank Ocean and Dua Lipa, Olovson now turns the focus on himself for the first time. “UNTANGLE” features deep sub-bass, subtle footsteps, and Olovson’s intimate falsetto, evolving like a meditation of emotional contrasts—grief and release.
This song is about untangling the emotions and patterns you carry, realizing you’re allowed to let go, and finding peace.
This is his second single since Storytelling, which has amassed 3 million streams and earned acclaim from outlets such as Rolling Stone India and BBC Radio 6. His track “Books Are Flying” appeared in the SHOWTIME series The Man Who Fell to Earth, and the visual for “Gyroscope” received nominations at BAFTA-qualifying film festivals.
With “UNTANGLE,” Olovson broadens his sonic landscape, embracing a bold vocal presence while maintaining his characteristic cinematic sensitivity. Fans of James Blake, Sampha, and Blood Orange will appreciate the blend of raw emotion and precise production, resulting in a track that is both deeply personal and relatable: the quiet sound of transformation.
