The sun on your skin, your head nestled among dark clouds, and your heart tethered to memories you’d rather leave behind, this is the essence of “Talvez,” the captivating new single from Ão. Serving as a tantalising glimpse into their upcoming album set to drop in early 2026, “Talvez” is a bold follow-up to their critically acclaimed work, Ao Mar.
Brenda Corijn, Siebe Chau, Jolan Decaestecker, and Bert Peyffers are back, forging deeper connections through their signature sound—a rich fusion of saudade, alternative pop, Latin influences, and intricate electronica, weaving seamlessly between Portuguese and English. With “Talvez,” their latest offering has become even more distilled and immersive, showcasing heightened production quality and an emotional depth that resonates on a physical level.
Born on the road, “Talvez” emerged following a month-long hiatus from touring. The band’s reunion took place amid the picturesque landscapes of Slovenia, while Brenda sought solace in the vibrant culture of Brazil. “I told the others: I can only truly relax if I leave with the idea that I’m never coming back. When I emailed Siebe from there, he thought I wasn’t coming back at all,” she reflects.
The charango, a spirited South American guitar, bathes this track in warmth and light; yet, underneath its melodic surface, a tension simmers. “Talvez” serves as both a confrontation and a delightfully summery melody, revealing the narrative of someone escaping her past only to unexpectedly collide with memories she thought she had left behind. The lyrics evoke poignant introspection, exploring the complex feelings of returning to a self she had desperately tried to evade.

“Talvez você se lembra da minha escuridão”! “Maybe you only remember my darkness.” This line encapsulates the striking juxtaposition of joy and sorrow that characterises the track. As Ão continues to chart their unique course in the music landscape, “Talvez” is not just a song; it’s an experience inviting listeners to navigate the intricate dance of light and shadow within themselves.
