Press Play: M. Lucky – Gone

The indie pop artist M. Lucky from Amsterdam has released her new single “Gone.” Following “Tasks,” this is the second taste of her upcoming album “Good Entertainment,” set to be released in 2026. “Gone” musically oscillates between the sounds of Air, Enya, and Tame Impala: atmospheric, melancholic, yet sparkling and driving. The song merges delicate, almost confessional vocals with an anthemic chorus that pushes forward, supported by sharp drums and warm basslines. M. Lucky describes it as “a song about the secret spaces that appear between darkness and light.”

The production of “Gone” was done in collaboration with Pieterjan Coppejans (Eefje de Visser) and captures the aesthetic tension that characterises the forthcoming album “Good Entertainment,” a work that oscillates between dreamy indie pop, psychedelic electronics, and unfiltered pop madness.

Born in Yokohama and raised in Singapore, M. Lucky now calls Amsterdam home. In her music, she grapples with the contradictions of a city and time that feel increasingly restless and artificial. As she puts it: “I’m a band from Amsterdam.”

Regarding the upcoming album, M. Lucky states: “Good Entertainment feverishly reflects these times. Amsterdam is turning into Disneyland; some people here seem to be made of plastic, and there’s a lot of weird rich people who need more and more entertainment to numb the pain of power and luxury.”

“Good Entertainment” was created on the move: between a car, forests, Japan, Amsterdam, Berlin, and a studio stay in Ghent. It is a chaotic yet vibrant process, as she describes: “Life kind of could live through the album, instead of holing up and cranking it out while extremely caffeinated.”

Lyrically, M. Lucky offers a sardonic reflection on a world stuck in a constant state of entertainment: digital excess, social isolation, and the feeling of living in a city that resembles an amusement park. Ultimately, the music emerges as playful, overwhelming, humorous, yet deeply serious.

“Gone” and “Tasks” showcase M. Lucky as an artist who illuminates the absurdities of our times with sharp observation and a distinctive pop sensibility, always with a wink.
