Reclaiming Venus

Introducing Marla Jobst, a fashion designer and student at the Fashion Design Institute in Düsseldorf. Her work explores the space between reality and imagination, where emotions take form and the unseen becomes tangible. Photography by Frank Lünenschlos. With her latest piece piece “Reclaiming Venus”, she reimagines nature through the silhouette of Venus, veiled in human excess yet radiating both fragility and power. Inspired by Botticelli’s Birth of Venus and Aurora’s The Seed, the work speaks with nature’s voice: beauty intertwined with destruction, a reminder that once the earth is consumed, no wealth can bring her back.

Across her designs, Jobst seeks to translate inner states into sculptural expression, weaving memory, emotion, and concept into wearable forms. Her practice merges storytelling and structure, revealing the delicate tension between vulnerability and strength.
