We’re thrilled to host today’s premiere of Roses of Romance, featuring the sensational Blazey, an emerging music superstar and dear friend of KALTBLUT. In this mesmerizing film, Blazey navigates a surrealistic landscape, reflecting on the labyrinth of his mind as he grapples with profound questions surrounding his existence as a black, queer person.
The architecture in Roses of Romance fluctuates between evoking a sense of harmony, depth, and confinement, mirroring the complexities of Blazey’s inner world. This fusion forms a poignant symbiotic relationship with his perspective, offering viewers a unique lens into his journey.
Many queer individuals often face the ramifications of internalized self-hatred, fostered by society’s damaging narratives around difference. Though coming out can appear to herald a newfound pride, it frequently unfolds as a relentless journey of unlearning prejudice and embracing self-acceptance. Roses of Romance is ultimately a powerful homage to self-love and the (re)union of body, mind, and soul.
About Blazey
Blazey, an Afro-German musician with heritage from Togo, calls Berlin home. His music is a vibrant blend of ballroom sounds from the LGBTQIA+ community, Afro beats from West Africa, and the infectious rhythms of global diva pop. Both sonically and visually, he rises as a compelling ambassador for the often-overlooked queer Afro-German community, crafting a bridge to the dynamic landscapes of post-migrant pop culture.
