Mohd Azlan Mam was born in Balik Pulau , Penang in 1974 . Studied at the University of Malaya Medical Centre , graduated in Medical Imaging ( 1996 ) , majoring in interventional Radiological and Cardiac procedures. Even though he still is active in his field of studies, art has won him over as a photographer but also an illustrator and writer. “Reimaging Myself”, as shown on KALTBLUT magazine for the first time, is a glimpse into his personal sketchbook, his psyche and the things that make him create.
“My sketchbook is my personal self psychology , psychoanalysis and self critique about me and my society . It is a form of study that always relates to my photographic representations. There are mental processes that we’re not conscious most of at the time, an intuitive experimental research in these particular processes have lead me into another voyeuristic form of photographic representations in the majority of my body of works .
It is me sharing my personal visions, I am now interpreting my own dreams and emotions based on my introspection, social comparisons, and self-perception. Artists are more prone to emotional imbalances and sketches are one of our ways of mirroring and idealizing ourselves.
Sketches provide the experience of merging our calmness, power, wisdom, and goodness, without any prejudice .”
