The FW24 collection sees the triumphant return of Sundae School’s signature smokewear line, reinvigorating the traditional Korean hanbok (한복) with contemporary flair. This nod to cultural roots is flanked by sumptuous outerwear, featuring audacious puffers and fleeces, and a reimagined wardrobe of everyday essentials including sweatshirts and tees. Each piece resounds with the season’s emblematic refrain: “Alone we are silent, but together we are resilient,” saluting the fortitude and unity of the Asian American narrative.
“From the outset, we’ve aspired to echo both the struggles and victories of our community,” asserts Dae Lim, Sundae School’s founder. “This collection is our metamorphosis, showcasing the resilience we’ve embraced—not just in the fashion sphere, but as Asian Americans traversing a complex landscape. Elizabeth Wang, Sundae School’s Design Lead, helms the creative direction for the FW24 collection. A first-generation Asian American herself, Wang harnesses her journey to craft pieces that are rooted in tradition, yet audaciously rebellious.
“This collection is a proclamation of survival, but more than that, of flourishing,” Wang remarks. “By melding elements from Korean design, like the timeless hanbok, with streetwear influences and striking details such as bold hardware and oversized silhouettes, we’ve encapsulated resilience in its truest form—resilience against the odds, against silence, and conformity.”
