The Climate Crisis is a campaign curated by East London-based, Iranian-Egyptian creative Sepehr Badiei with an eclectic mix of young creatives from all over the world. Photography by Szilard Orban. Sepehr was raised in Aotearoa, New Zealand, after migrating as a refugee. Their practice uses hair as a primary medium, alongside manipulated fabric and found objects to question themes such as power, identity and systems. ‘THE CLIMATE CRISIS’ campaign responds to climate change not as a distant future, but as a lived, surreal reality – reflecting on our relationship with nature as humans.

“At a young age, I learned quickly how oil wealth and power could burn the land while people struggled. I saw heat rise off the streets, the Nile strained, and the air thickened with injustice. In my teenage years, through Aotearoa, being on the edge of the Pacific, I felt the ocean breathing heavy, swallowing the shores of islands that have done the least to cause this harm.
Climate change is not just a storm or a rising sea, it is racism, capitalism and current war dressed as a natural disaster. It is a fashion industry that spins beauty out of minority exploitation, leaving waste piled mountains higher than hope. It is complicit leaders who wage wars for profit while the earth burns beneath their souls.
Wildfires smear
horizon red
Floods cross the margins
Drought cracks the pages open
Time is not running out
It has already broken open
The climate fight is the light for liberation.
& it belongs to all” *Sepehr Badiei
