For a fleeting moment, an abandoned hotel nestled in the heart of Berlin will be reborn as an extraordinary art experience – The Dark Rooms Hotel. Once a vibrant hub bustling with life, where laughter echoed, love blossomed, arguments flared, and dreams sparked—the dilapidated rooms now harbour whispers of the past, laden with untold stories waiting to be unearthed. Spanning across 9 evocative levels, 15 visionary artists from around the globe will craft mesmerising light and sound installations. These creative masterpieces narrate tales that often linger in the shadows—themes we yearn for yet society tends to neglect. Prepare to be astonished, occasionally bewildered, yet ultimately inspired by their immersive expressions.
The hotel transforms into a time capsule. Its hushed hallways, draped in thick, weary carpets, absorb footsteps, inviting visitors to glide almost silently through corridors steeped in history. In the enveloping darkness, senses sharpen, each soft sound and flicker of light intensifying the experience. Wandering through the various floors without clear guidance, guests will stumble upon concealed rooms that house cutting-edge audiovisual installations. Most of these works are debuts, unveiled in Berlin for the very first time, promising a unique encounter with contemporary art.
This exhibition marks your final opportunity to traverse the haunted halls of this old hotel. Soon, the structure will succumb to demolition, forever altering its landscape.
