The Dopamine Rush: Robyn’s Triumphant Return to Music

After more than seven years, the iconic artist Robyn is back with a brand-new single, “Dopamine,” marking the glorious return of one of the most influential artists of her generation. Created in collaboration with her long-time companion Klas Åhlund (known for his work with Madonna, Charli XCX, Kesha, and Carly Rae Jepsen), this track is set to be released under Robyn’s new label, Young. It beautifully captures the intoxicating feeling that blossoms when one falls in love, a dizzying high where emotion and chemistry meld into one.

“Dopamine” is a song that encapsulates desire and doubt, authenticity and illusion, a pulsating and exhilarating piece of pop music that makes the tension between feeling and physicality palpable. Robyn muses, “Everyone has a smartphone that measures their pulse. We learn to decode emotions through the hormones and chemical substances within us. It’s almost as if we no longer accept that we are human, as if we’re trying to detach ourselves and explain everything down to the smallest detail, which I actually find amazing. But that’s also the reason why the world is in such a mess: this notion that we can somehow figure life out and ‘win’ it. Those are the two sides of Dopamine: this absolutely real, super strong, intense feeling on one side, painfully beautiful, and on the other, the awareness that everything is just a biological process in the body. It’s not about choosing between religion and science, but rather allowing both to coexist and moving fluidly between them.”

“Dopamine” follows Robyn’s seventh studio album, “Honey,” released in 2018, along with a string of public performances that had already stirred speculation and excitement for new music. Highlights include her performance with David Byrne for the 50th anniversary of Saturday Night Live, appearances alongside artists like Charli XCX and Gracie Abrams, the anthem “Life,” which she released last year with Jamie xx, collaborations with Yung Lean and Charli for a version of “360,” and scoring the 2025 Acne Studios show in Paris.

The single arrives with a performance video shot by the acclaimed photographer Marili Andre. We couldn’t be happier that Robyn is gracing us with her presence and new music, a sound the world desperately needs right now!
