In this graduate collection, we focused on toxic masculinity and its relation to the
absence of male nudity in mass media and art.
The main inspiration was Hans Christian Anderson’s folktale „The Emperors New
Clothes“. The timeless story effectively demonstrates problematic group behaviour
and thinking as well as the estranged relationship towards male nudity in western
culture. Aiming to provide an intimate look on fragile masculinity we combined
baroque and modern silhouettes as well as deconstructing classical menswear
elements. Through that, we created a collection of clothes that give the simultaneous
impression of being dressed, yet naked.
