Blue Thyme triumphantly returns for one final dance with their single “VOICES”. As we enter 2024, the time has finally come for the new single “VOICES,” a piece birthed by J. Karmark in 2016 amidst the chaos of a severe stress breakdown while working on Blue Thyme’s debut album and video. “I was overwhelmed by too many voices from ‘friends’ discussing my future and that of Blue Thyme…” recalls J. Karmark.
“Ultimately, ‘VOICES’ became my way of rediscovering myself. It’s a return to the music that defines me, that defines us with DasNichts, and what makes Blue Thyme truly special. In this chaotic realm of music, art, and social media, getting lost in the quest for what sells best is easy. However, what makes your music genuinely unique and valuable is that it comes from within,” J.Karmark concludes.
Throughout conversations with various female artists, J.Karmark realized it’s a significant concern for the so-called “weaker sex.” In honour of the single release, the first part of the evening on Thursday, November 28th, starting at 8 PM, will focus on empowering other female artists, featuring “Women Talk” from diverse corners of the Berlin music scene (DM for participation). Following this, a Blue Thyme-curated night dedicated to Berlin’s female artists will kick off at 10 PM in Artistania, Berlin-Neukölln. The line-up includes Blue Thyme, Mari.ama, Cate Hops, Jackie Jackpot, Agnethe Melchiorsen, and Nane Kahle.
The music video for the song marks the second collaboration between Blue Thyme and Brussels-based Colombian director Rafael Espinel, a partnership that shapes the film’s essence. In this endeavour, Blue Thyme placed their full trust in Rafael’s vision for their song’s interpretation, following his lead without hesitation. The outcome is nothing short of hypnotic.
