I can state without a shred of hesitation: I am easily Germany’s biggest Christine and the Queens fan. Ever since I first witnessed him live on stage in Berlin some 11 or 12 years ago, I have been entirely spellbound by his genius. To watch him perform is to witness a masterclass in physical storytelling, emotional catharsis, and radical artistic reinvention. Today, it is an immense honour to host the video premiere of his dazzling return: the bilingual single “Rendez-vous avec toi” / “Rendez-vous in your arms.”
The dual French-English release marks the official dawn of a sensual, interstellar chapter, providing the first tantalising preview of a forthcoming full-length album arriving next spring. Built over an irresistible, organic disco groove steeped in Giorgio Moroder bounce and New York jazz finesse, the track is an explosion of pure joy, a breathless celebration of desire, raw tenderness, and that sacred night when two estranged lovers finally collapse back into each other’s embrace.
Brought to life on screen through a dance-driven visual shot on location in Paris, the video was co-directed by Christine and the Queens alongside Raphaël De Albuquerque, featuring showstopping choreography by visionary master Alexander Ekman. Every gesture, leap, and suspended breath translates sound directly into kinetic form, redefining the boundaries between contemporary dance and modern pop theatre.
“I have a rendez-vous with you, tonight. I have obsessed about it since the morning,” Chris shares. “With the devotion of someone who only waits for you, and the meaning you give to life itself by your mere presence. I’ll come starred with music – the new interstellar traveling of Christine and the Queens, I did it for you. In secrecy of frequencies, in genius musicians, in New York Jazz, in Moroder Groove, I kept on obsessing about this celebration, this big night found again, and I leapt into my dream. Names, boxes, they never defined what we share together. The electricity remains eternally mysterious.”
photo by Errol RaineyTo celebrate this cosmic homecoming, Chris is returning to the stage this December for an exclusive run of intimate European club shows, backed by a formidable live band including Vincent Taeger, Vincent Taurelle, Adrian Edeline, and Karl Onibuje. Stripping away the stadium distance to reconnect in real time, the shows will revisit past anthems while giving audiences their very first live taste of unreleased future cuts.
From the era-defining debut Chaleur Humaine to the sprawling, operatic Mike Dean-produced opus PARANOÏA, ANGELS, TRUE LOVE, Christine and the Queens continues to operate as a singular, uncompromising force. “Rendez-vous avec toi” is nothing short of transcendent.
