DAYYANI has crafted a unique musical universe, where emotional and energetic pop music showcases the experiences and perspectives of a young woman. Touring with the indie sensation Ganger gave her the freedom and environment to fully develop her artistic vision. Over the years, she has emerged as one of the most exciting new voices in the Danish pop landscape.
Her debut album “Recipe For Love” is a powerful blend of pop that incorporates influences from house and electropop. By tapping into her musically rich upbringing, DAYYANI has involved family, friends, and bandmates in the creative process, resulting in an innovative sound that resonates with both personal and collective themes.
DAYYANI has already captured the hearts of festival-goers at esteemed events such as the Roskilde Festival, SPOT Festival, and Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg. During her electrifying live shows, she is supported by some of Aarhus’s most talented young musicians, who bring an engaging energy through dynamic percussion and choreography, making each performance unforgettable.
How was it to shoot a music video like this?
I was completely in control of the process for this video, as I co-directed it with my boyfriend, Sean Collin Rusike, which has been such an exciting experience. In addition, I also threw myself into dancing contemporary, something I had no real experience with before. It was quite a challenge. I practised for a full month leading up to the shoot!
What were the thoughts behind the video?
Compared to my previous music videos, which were filled with pop culture references, this time I approached it with a more storytelling-based foundation. The most important thing for me was that there should be a story or a progression that can be felt, but also one that is open to the viewer’s interpretation. It had to be more abstract but also strong and confident, just like the music.
What story does it tell?
The video tells the story of a romance between two people. Choosing each other isn’t always easy. There can be a lot of conflicting emotions. “I want you, but what about myself?” The glass sphere, which is prominently featured at the end of the video, represents the love between the two people, which requires a seed from both of them before it can grow into something greater. Falling in love involves so many complex emotions, and that’s what I’m trying to reflect in the video.
With the release of “Recipe For Love,” DAYYANI marks a significant artistic milestone in her career. The album is now available through Yachtvej / Sony Music Denmark and promises to resonate with listeners around the globe. Don’t miss the chance to explore DAYYANI’s enchanting artistic vision and the captivating experience of her live performances!
