In a twist of fate, life, music, and a shared pizza in Montmartre conspired to bind Laetitia Duveau and Philippe Duval nearly a decade ago. Since that serendipitous encounter, the duo has been inseparable, both in life and on stage, navigating the fervent currents of their creative synergy. Their musical journey, inspired by the eclectic influences of Rita Mitsouko, Grimes, and The Knife, saw them evolve from “pop’s bad kids” in their former project, The Ritch Kids (Bellevue Music/Universal), to fervent freedom fighters with their latest venture, FreeFreeDomDom.

In 2017, in the vibrant heart of Neukölln, Berlin, their sanctuary and creative haven, FreeFreeDomDom was born. The pandemic saw them retreat to the humid, mystical hills of Sintra, Portugal, where they distilled inspiration into their EPs “In Bed,” “Amazing Exciting Sensational Love,” and “C’est Pas la Vie en Rose.”
Unshackled, Laetitia and Philippe capture the raw essence of their creativity. Their music—a kaleidoscope of catchy melodies, infectious beats, and lyrics that oscillate between depth and lightness—embraces a deliberately imperfect ethos, championing values close to their hearts.
With three EPs and several covers of classics under their belt, the duo now heralds the release of their first entirely French album, set for autumn 2024. “Papillons,” the debut single from this opus, is a pop ballad marked by simplicity and fragile poetry, paying homage to the legendary Léo Ferré while celebrating love in all its forms. This track, born naturally from their enduring relationship, showcases the duo’s ability to craft powerful, poignant music that resonates deeply.
