In a celebration that KALTBLUT Magazine undoubtedly loves, the queer indie-electro collective, LOVE BASH, unveils their debut music video for “NIGHTS CRAWLING”. Brimming with forward-thinking energy and anthemic lyrical power, this project radiates a deeply personal perspective on queer and diverse identities.
Emerging grandly with their long-awaited full-length debut, Falling Upward, LOVE BASH hailing from the Philadelphia area—comprising Adelaide “Adi” Day (she/her) and Brandon Christopher (he/him)—crafts a unique musical ecosystem. As co-founders of both Love Bash and the independent production company, Spruce Alley, Adi and Brandon aim to shatter the toxic expectations the world imposes upon us.
LOVE BASH PREMIERES “NIGHTS CRAWLING” VIDEO: A SPECTACLE OF QUEER INDIE-ELECTRO EXCELLENCE
Falling Upward redefines contemporary pop, blending genres like electro, synthwave, house, gospel, soul, indie, and world music into a singular musical universe. This collective performance is fueled by deeply emotional songwriting and boundless invention, obliterating traditional boundaries of sound and identity.
A hallmark of LOVE BASH’s mission is featuring an array of diverse, gifted vocalists, enhancing the already vibrant tones set by Adi and Brandon. Their haunting new single, “Nights Crawling,” featuring Ruby Dibble, stands out with its aesthetic commitment and heartfelt emotion. The tracks on Falling Upward trace Adi’s personal journey of self-discovery as she transitions.
“‘Nights Crawling’ expresses my deep feeling that something was not right in my life,” shares Adi. “The longer I lived as a man, the more bound and shackled I felt. Through transitioning, I’m learning to love and accept myself. This song is about the brokenness I felt, beginning to trust my own heart, and coming home to myself.”
The video, directed by Alejandro Montoya Marin, portrays a dystopian future. Set in 2035, a city is replaced with a “People Zoo,” where inhabitants indulge every desire under the surveillance of an AI overlord planning its rise.
“The People Zoo is a metaphor for the class struggle that values people solely for their contributions to the capitalist system,” explains Adi, “while the metaverse symbolizes immense wealth channelled towards the egotistical goals of the elite—a metaverse built on human suffering.”
LOVE BASH’s immersive sound and visual artistry break conventional boundaries, defying expectations and resisting easy categorization. With Falling Upward, they offers a bold, inclusive sound adventure that embraces the myriad possibilities of friendship and collaboration.
