Video Premiere: MAIORANO – Rosa

Italian-born artist MAIORANO invites listeners into a world of raw emotion and introspection with the premiere of their new single “Rosa.” Eschewing the typical structure of catchy hooks and instant gratification, the band delivers a rich tapestry of sound that unfolds across three poignant verses. Each line serves as a sincere narration of a personal truth, whispered with an intensity that resonates deeply.

The track is defined by dreamy guitars that shimmer in cascading reverb, creating an almost hypnotic effect akin to a fading memory. As the listener delves into the song’s layered soundscape, it masterfully pulls them inward, culminating in an unexpected transition into a gentle saxophone line—a mesmerizing farewell that lingers in the air.

“Rosa is one of those songs that just came out of nowhere,” Alex Maiorano reflects on the creative process behind the single. “I wasn’t feeling inspired, but on a tired day, I picked up my guitar, and suddenly, there it was. It comes from a deep, personal memory, not really inspired by any specific music, just something for myself.” He elaborates on his simple approach to songwriting: “A simple, repetitive melody that I wanted to sing, without any chorus. I just like to relax on the couch with a small acoustic guitar, and that’s exactly how Rosa happened.”

MAIORANO’s unique sonic identity seamlessly blends elements of earthy pop, soul, and funk, characterized by the dynamic chemistry among its members. Alongside Maiorano, Alessio D’Alessandro delivers steady grooves on drums, while Nicola Battistelli adds soulful textures with his saxophone and keyboards. Argentinian bassist Mauro Martinez completes the ensemble, infusing the music with a distinctive funk that sets MAIORANO apart in the contemporary music scene.

The corresponding video for “Rosa” was filmed at Coccodrillo, a vibrant restaurant in Berlin that transports viewers back to the mythical Italy of the 1970s or a surreal Miami, adorned with echoes of Sinatra’s tunes. The venue’s warm, chaotic aesthetic perfectly captures the song’s essence. After enjoying a birthday lunch there, Alex felt an immediate pull to the space, reaching out to director Tim Stadler to bring his vision to life. “We had to start shooting at 6:30 AM before the restaurant opened,” he recalls, highlighting the dedication that went into creating this immersive visual experience.

With “Rosa,” MAIORANO boldly strips down their sound to a fundamental core, inviting listeners to experience vulnerability without the distraction of flashy embellishments. The result is a deeply introspective journey through the artist’s childhood memories, rendered through an evocative performance that resonates long after the final note fades. In “Rosa,” MAIORANO has not just created a song—they have crafted a powerful narrative that lingers in the heart, offering a glimpse into the beauty of life’s simplest moments.
