Today marks a defining moment for the rising star, singer-songwriter, and performance artist Molly Mogul as she unveils her new single “Run,” offering a tantalising taste of her forthcoming debut album set to drop this spring. This track serves as an invitation into a vibrant new chapter for the German artist, featuring an entrancing blend of pop, experimental soundscapes, and movement-based storytelling. For years, Molly has seamlessly blurred the lines between music, theatre, dance, and visual art, and with “Run,” she finally brings this hybridisation to the forefront of her larger artistic narrative.

Raised in Inning am Ammersee near Munich, Molly’s journey into music was somewhat serendipitous; her father mistakenly enrolled her in the school choir. What began as an obligation transformed into a passion, leading her to Bristol, first for love, and later, for art. Immersed in the British underground scene and inspired by artists such as Loyle Carner, Little Simz, Lava La Rue, and Biig Piig, she began writing songs in both German and English. It was during this period that she founded the FLINTA-led collective, Dirty Spread Collective. Her initial releases were birthed independently and often on the move, including some crafted in a self-converted van.
Molly’s artistic odyssey has taken her between Bristol, Munich, Barcelona, and Paris, always nomadic, always experimental. Her debut album, co-written with long-time collaborator Niki (Young Hoffi) and produced by Yann Rose in the Ciel Rouge Studios of Paris (known for artists like Brodinski, Charlotte Gainsbourg, and Christine and the Queens), encapsulates this dynamic journey with an atmospheric depth that resonates.

Album Artwork: A Bouquet of Hopes and Dreams
“Run,” one of her earliest demos, was written in solitude within her camper van in Bristol. Molly describes it as “a reminder that you can’t outrun your fears and eventually the things you don’t look at will catch up with you.” The contrast between minimalistic origins and a more energetic, club-inspired second verse reflects the song’s exploration of introspection and escape, revealing the delicate dance of suppression and reclamation, as it grapples with the realisation that the unspoken always lingers.
With “Run,” Molly Mogul compellingly illustrates the direction of her artistry: a bold and innovative approach to pop that fuses body, language, and sound into an exhilarating narrative. This track not only showcases her immense talent but also cements her position as a voice to watch in the contemporary music scene. I absolutely love this track, and I can’t wait to hear more from her explosive forthcoming album!
