Video Premiere: The Cope – ‘Oíche/Back On My Bullshit’

Irish duo The Cope drop self-directed visuals for ‘Oíche/Back On My Bullshit’. “We wanted the visual to be in step with the themes of the track,” David, one half of the duo explains. “For me, the track called back to the bombastic nature of 90s music videos. It’s a story of liberation and celebration, embracing yourself in the biggest way possible. Our star James Vu Anh Pham perfectly embodied the spirit of BOMB, and along with the rest of the incredible ensemble of dancers showcases the beauty and power of self-love”.

““Back On My Bullshit” is a journey towards individual empowerment. Drawing inspiration from the feelings and impulses that follow on from a toxic situationship breaking down, BOMB casts off the emotions of sadness and salutes the potential routes back to happiness. Will a fleeting, fiery return to your ex for temporary bliss solve anything? Or is contentment better found in collective acts of joy and harmony with friends and like-minded revelers?”.

With roots now set in Dublin and Berlin, The Cope (aka David Anthony Curley and Joe Furlong), are bringing a whole new level to audio-visual artistry. With a collaborative skill-set of song-writing, production and film-making, the pair have been creating their 360-degree experiential output since an impromptu meeting at a karaoke party in 2019. Uniting on the cusp of a global pandemic, Curley and Furlong spent their early creative days tapping into the feeling of collective catharsis when they couldn’t see their friends.. “If this music can facilitate people reconnecting with those moments, then our job is done” says Furlong, “All we want to do is make people dance”.
