Just This release ‘Broken Promises’ Part 2

Just This is the expression of a social, metropolitan and underground movement we are living and going through all together. The Milan based collective aims to frame the daily changes in art, music and space, by a series of messages, images and sensations drawn inside the audience. Their first Various Artist release ‘Broken Promises’ aims to the research a mix of sounds by producers from different countries; a journey into a variegated world. Melancholic vibes, deep ambient atmospheres. The second part of the VA gets straight to the point, reaching the dancefloor in a more direct and deep insistent way. We asked each artist to discuss their story behind each track.

Hunter/Game – ‘Inside World’

“We produced this track the same day we bought the Moog Mother-32. We were looking for new machines after the album with the idea of keeping our main elements like the Moog sound. We installed the machine and instantly we came up with the sequence that now is the main melody of ‘inside world’. It was like the Moog Mother-32 was built for our music. The strings came from a reverse sample of the Polysix, one of our favourite instruments in studio. This track belongs to the period of our album with the same influences and similar sounds.”

Pietzky – ‘Self Dimension’

“There’s a fun story behind this track, because I was actually working on a chill sound, with aery pads and echoes in distance melodies, but then, at one point, some magic ethereal notes came out of my mind and my fingers started playing them like crazy on the piano, where I usually begin to arrange a composition. Then after finding the right sequence of notes and repeating it an infinite amount of times I recorded the midi notes in order to pass it on my favourite synth, the Six Trak, then the punchy kick and heavy bass came by themselves.”

Altman – ‘Assault’

“Assault was created during a tough time of my life – I felt a lot of anger and wanted to express this feeling through music. Originally, I did not mean this track to be released, it was just a way to manifest the emotions inside me as a kind of therapy. When Just This selected this track for the Various Artists, I was really surprised as I just thought it was too experimental and hard-hitting. Luckily, they caught the passion I put inside of it and the craving to emerge and need to succeed typical of my generation.”
