“Կոճակ” is an ode to the ignorance of a child. The uncanny characters explore memory and identity. With amorphous shapes and vague relationships between the two characters, I wanted to blur the lines between the real and the abstract.
“With “Կոճակ revisited” project I dove deeper into the uneasiness of form, contradicting its function. The demarcation between the tangible and the abstract gracefully dissipates into a mesmerizing haze. Within this transformative journey, the visuals boldly transcend the confines of reality, leaving behind any notion of veracity.”
Istanbul-based artist Burak Kaçi uses a multidisciplinary approach by juxtaposing photography, video art, costume design and performance art. He focuses on a clash of the notions of identity, memory and society. He explores new ways of expression by revisiting the borders of body and identity to create queer visual narratives.
