Last weekend, the vibrant city of Düsseldorf became a hub of creativity as it hosted the highly anticipated fashion show for Labay PN, skillfully organised by the talented designer herself. This event marked a significant milestone, showcasing her latest collection while fostering a spirit of collaboration amongst aspiring fashion enthusiasts. Photographer Thilo Wilcke went backstage for us to capture the energy and the designs.
The endeavour was a true community project, drawing in around 30 dedicated individuals, including 10 models, photographers, makeup artists, and hairstylists. Remarkably, every participant contributed their time and expertise without monetary compensation, reflecting a shared passion for fashion and artistry. The location for the show was generously provided by Niemandsland e.V., further emphasising the importance of community support in the arts.
The day began with an engaging photoshoot, setting the tone for the evening ahead. At 4 PM, the doors opened, welcoming approximately 90 guests who had eagerly awaited this moment. Following the show, attendees enjoyed refreshments and the opportunity to network in the courtyard, fostering connections that transcend the runway.
The designer’s journey is as inspiring as her work. Having begun her sewing journey at the tender age of eight, she sold her first piece by the age of 14, mastering her craft through self-directed learning. After relocating to Düsseldorf, she launched her first collection at 19, officially marketing it through her website. Now, just two years later, she has orchestrated her own show, a testament to her dedication and growth in the fashion industry.
As Labay PN continues to evolve, the designer remains committed to expanding her collection and customer base, always striving for improvement while celebrating the beauty of collaboration and creativity. This fashion show was not just an event; it was a celebration of passion, community, and the relentless pursuit of artistic excellence.
