Icon Adam Lambert Embraces Dark 90s Industrial Electronic in ‘EAT U ALIVE’ Ahead of New Album

Ahead of the release of his sixth studio album, ADAM, independent pop artist Adam Lambert has signalled a distinct aesthetic and sonic shift with his latest single, “EAT U ALIVE.” The track serves as the introduction to a 12-track self-titled LP arriving on July 10 through his own label and distributed via The Orchard.

Moving away from traditional pop arrangements, “EAT U ALIVE” leans into a heavier, industrial-tinged electronic landscape. The project pulls inspiration from the alternative, electronic, and trip-hop movements of the late 90s and early 2000s, citing foundational influences such as Nine Inch Nails, Björk, Goldfrapp, and Massive Attack. The production, helmed by executive producer Pete Nappi, focuses on a tense interplay between aggressive synth textures and Lambert’s expansive vocal delivery.

The visual identity of the era matches this darker direction. The official music video, shot on location in Paris and directed by Vitalii Akimov, captures the track’s tense, late-night atmosphere, while the album’s striking cover artwork was captured by legendary fashion photographer Nick Knight.

“I wanted to write songs that fit into a world reminiscent of the music that formed me,” Lambert notes regarding the album’s direction. “The album explores both the light and dark sides of life and the thin line that separates a positive experience from a negative one. It’s been truly liberating to acknowledge my own vulnerabilities and strengths.”

From the Stage to Independent Release

The upcoming album follows a highly visible period for Lambert in the theatre world, including a run as the Emcee in Broadway’s Cabaret and a summer 2025 performance as Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar at the Hollywood Bowl. ADAM represents a return to his solo catalogue, framing personal themes of self-acceptance and duality within an uncompromising electronic framework.

To support the release, a limited run of album release shows has been scheduled across the US, UK, and Europe this July, starting in Los Angeles and closing with a final European date in Berlin.
