Alectra Rothschild/Masculina Autumn/Winter 2024

Plunging into the depths of transformation: Alectra Rothschild/MASCULINA reveals ‘The Rebirth Carry’ collection at Copenhagen Fashion Week. On a cool Monday, the 29th of January 2024, an avant-garde invitation to metamorphosis emerged. Alectra Rothschild, the artisan soul behind MASCULINA, unveiled her latest sartorial vision for Autumn/Winter 2024 – aptly titled ‘The Rebirth Carry.’ This pivotal runway show, both curated and elevated by inter.agcy, becomes an artistic inquiry into our existential ponderings: What legacy do we carry forward from one existence into the next?

“Mortality and reinvention stitch the fabric of my inaugural runway escapade,” Alectra Rothschild muses. “It’s a homage to the phoenix in us all – the trans individuals who weave their narratives of transformation into the core of their being post-transition. My creation is about retaining what elevates us, shedding what doesn’t, and finding a new form in the dissolution of the old.”

Drawing on the primal element of water – the genesis of life – Alectra transcends the mundane, conjuring an array of designs that whisper tales of aquatic wonders, from the elemental shield of raincoats to the liberating embrace of swimwear. The collection sparkles with diamond-like precision, the flow of fringe that mirrors the dance of rain, and the sheen of materials like latex and PVC that reflect the essence of water itself. It’s a Grecian ode to the sea, with draped silhouettes that echo the mystical allure of aquatic depths.

Imagine awakening on the shores of Ibiza, reborn – this is the essence that Rothschild infuses into every seam.

The Spirit of MASCULINA: A Tapestry of Glamour, Artistic Flair, and Artisanal Majesty

Alectra Rothschild crafts her world on the pillars of all-out glamour, theatricality in form, and meticulous craftsmanship. With a foundation rooted in tailoring – honed before her fashion education – she has adorned her expertise with academic lustre, from Beckmans College of Design to the venerable corridors of Central Saint Martins under Fabio Piras, capped with insights into sustainability at The Royal Danish Academy.

It’s a journey enriched by creative apprenticeships with icons like Iris Van Herpen and Anne Sofie Madsen, alongside vibrant industry stints at Mugler, steered by Casey Cadwallader, not to mention collaborations with bastions of design like Alexander McQueen and Birkenstock.

A name that resonates within fashion’s inner circles, Alectra Rothschild’s genius has been lauded as the “best of CPHFW SS23+FW23” by i-D, honoured in the Dazed100 List 2022 by Dazed, and hailed as the inaugural ‘CPHFW NEW TALENT: One to Watch’ for FW23.

The latest act? A stunning performance for CPHFW SS24 under the spotlight of Viscose Journal. MASCULINA’s creations now grace icons, from Arca to Zara Larsson, each garment a testament to Rothschild’s reverie in cloth.
