Alter Ego

A KALTBLUT exclusive. The project is called Alter Ego and it’s a collaboration with Ariadna Tapia @ariadnatb, a content creator from Barcelona; and art director and stylist Andrea Regüés @and_regues. The idea of the editorial is based on the different personas that a public figure, like Ariadna, has to create throughout her career in social networks.

“To carry it out, we have played with the creation of sets, stylings and makeups very different from each other, which speak of a variety of egos. In addition, we have incorporated a text written by Ariadna in which she talks about this, from her own experience. For this project we have worked with many different brands, such as Paloma Wool, The Attico and Mietis, among many others.

“Obviously I feel like I have an alter ego, and probably more than one. I think everyone, more or less consciously, has it. For me, having an alter ego is something totally normal, and even more so when working in the world of social networks, where you expose yourself, you are the protagonist of the story.

In the end, through my profile I have created an alter ego where I project parts of a person with whom I don’t always identify. That can be an advantage, since I have the power to choose who I want to be, but at the same time it has its negative side. For me, this last part is about getting lost in who you really are, not distinguishing which is the “real” Ariadna Tapia. After 7 years thinking about it and getting lost, I came to the conclusion that, in the end, this alter ego is part of my person, they may be less identifying features in my day-to-day person, but they are still mine in some way. I doubt that I could create something far removed from how I really feel, because if I do it is because there is a certain part of me that feels that way.”

“The difference between Ariadna Tapia and Ariadnatb, that Ariadna Tapia is a real girl, with her multiple imperfections and flaws. Instead, Ariadna always wants to be perfect, trying to show only the best part of herself. But, perfect or imperfect, she is still Ariadna Tapia, and no matter how one thing or the other appears, my essence gives me away hahahaha. This perfection that I seek in my Instagram alter ego partly has a logic, and many times it is a barrier that I have created for myself so as not to suffer so much the consequences of exposing myself publicly.

For me it is no less ethical to be an influencer and not explain my most private life. On the contrary, it seems to me that each person has to find their way of showing themselves publicly. When you submit to so much social pressure you have to be aware of the consequences that your actions can have in real life, and if you live more calmly without showing certain areas of your life that you know could cause you discomfort of any kind, you must do it. With this, I value and admire all those public figures who do it. We are all people, we all have an alter ego. Simply that each one manages it in her own way, and this is mine.”
