Somewhere between the last train home and a neon-lit daydream, a new kind of kawaii comes to life. It has no interest in behaving, no intention of staying innocent. It is sugary, synthetic, slightly chaotic. A fever dream of Tokyo Street style, underground club culture and the hyperreal fantasies of an internet generation raised on pixels, plastic and pop.

Here, cuteness is not a weakness but a weapon of self-invention. Lavender hair, candy-red embellishments, sculptural corsetry and oversized accessories collide in a visual language that feels both nostalgic and entirely untethered from time. The sweetness of Harajuku-inspired aesthetics meets the raw sensuality of the dance floor, where glossy surfaces, exposed skin and unexpected textures become extensions of the body rather than mere decoration.
At the heart of kawaii.exe is a playful contradiction: the polished fantasy of digital perfection disrupted by something instinctive, tactile and unapologetically human. Handmade garments cling, twist and unravel around the figure, their surfaces evoking the aftermath of a night spent moving beneath hot lights. Fabric becomes a second skin; texture mimics perspiration; delicate details take on an almost cybernetic quality. The result is a wardrobe that exists somewhere between fashion experiment, club uniform and an avatar escaping the screen.

Against the metallic interiors of a Tokyo subway, the city becomes a moving backdrop for an alternate reality. Pink upholstery, fluorescent reflections and passing silhouettes blur into a world of constant stimulation, where fashion refuses to remain separate from its surroundings. Elsewhere, vivid blue skies and artificial green landscapes evoke the polished unreality of a desktop wallpaper — a familiar digital paradise made strange by the presence of a body that refuses to be rendered into perfection.
There is a deliberate excess to it all. Nails become ornaments, accessories become extensions of gesture, and colour is pushed past restraint. Nothing is quite functional, nothing entirely innocent. The looks borrow from the visual vocabulary of kawaii, gyaru, and cyber-pop without belonging to any one of them, creating a personal mythology from references never meant to coexist. It is fashion as a private universe: messy, seductive, absurd and free.
The beauty of kawaii.exe lies in its refusal to choose between opposites. Softness meets distortion. Craft meets artificiality. The cute becomes confrontational, the futuristic becomes nostalgic, and the body becomes a space for constant reinvention. Each look feels like a character with its own internal logic, caught somewhere between a late-night manga panel, an underground rave and a forgotten browser window still glowing in the dark.

Perhaps this is what contemporary kawaii looks like when it grows up without outgrowing its fantasies. Not a return to innocence, but a playful rejection of the rules that define it. A little strange, a little sweaty, irresistibly over the top.
Rooted in the energy of rave culture, Thira Taf reimagines elegance through an edgy, sensual lens. Inspired by the feeling of being “sweaty from dancing,” the London-based label explores the relationship between body and material through experimental textures and tactile surfaces that evoke the sheen of perspiration on skin. Each garment is individually handmade in London, with the designer personally involved in every stage of its creation. Grounded in craftsmanship and the development of a distinctive textile language, Thira Taf captures the intensity, intimacy and movement of the dance floor, blurring the boundaries between fashion and the body itself — where raw club energy meets an unconventional vision of elegance.
